The Back Story:
Turf Meets Surf - Cowboys at the HB Pier
On the morning of July 26, 2007, Surf City became Cow Town for a few hours. Forty some cowboy and cowgirl wranglers drove a hundred Hereford cattle more than a mile down the beach. In the background stands the Huntington Beach pier, California. A famous footpath, at 1822 feet in length, it still remains one of the longest pleasure piers in the country.
The event was sponsored by the Orange County Fair to promote its 2007 theme, Cowabunga! The Year of Herefords, Surfers and Sand. The event also highlighted the annual U.S. Open of Surfing being held south of the well-known pier.
