The Back Story:
Riding High - Steers on the strand in Surf CIty
This scene holds two weathered icons held with great regard, the American cowboy and the HB pier. On July 26, 2007, Huntington Beach, California saw a flashback in history when it became the site of a cattle drive. It was once again the Wild West, with forty wranglers driving a herd of a hundred Herefords more than a mile down the beach.
In the background, the pier stands as a prominent public landmark for pleasurable viewing on the oceanfront. Sponsored by the Orange County Fair, the event also highlighted the annual U.S. Open of Surfing being held at the same time.
