The Back Story:

The Blue Crab

"The blue crab is so named because of its sapphire-tinted claws. Its shell is a mottled brownish color, and mature females have red highlights on the tips of their pincers. These crabs are found mostly in brackish coastal lagoons in regions ranging from Nova Scotia, through the gulf of Mexico, and as far south as Uruguay. Blue crabs are so abundant in some areas that whole locations are named after them. I.e. The word "Chesapeake" comes from the Susquehannock, the Native American peple, meaning "great shellfish bay." This is quite befitting to Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary and source of Blue Crab in the U.S."
