The Back Story:
Emperor Penguins
The emperor penguin is the tallest and heaviest of all penguin species and are native to Antarctica (the south pole).
They are social animals in their nesting and foraging behavior, and they’re well adapted in coordinating their diving and surfacing when hunting together.
Individuals can be active during the day or night. Mature adults travel throughout most of the year between the nesting area and ocean foraging areas.
Penguins spend about half of their lives on land and half in the surrounding oceans.
