The Back Story:
Japanese Wave Design
Living on a series of islands only accentuated the importance of the ocean and it is only natural that the wave symbol has become a sign of tradition and life, as well as a reminder of the power of nature. This design integrates a yin yang of water and sky, creating an image of two of the most powerful and dynamic forces of nature achieving a moment of perfect balance. In Asian art, the yin yang symbolizes the natural balance of the masculine and feminine forces.
