The Back Story:
Crown Point
Built in 1858 and rebuilt in 1912 with the 8 surrounding columns, the Crown Point Lighthouse is a monument to Samuel de Champlain who was the first to explore Lake Champlain back in 1609. France contributed a bust of Champlain by Rodin, which still resides at the light today. It remained in service to ships and other maritime travelers until 1926.
About The Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a
publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
