The Back Story:

Old Point Loma

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse, located at Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego, California, is one of the eight original west coast lighthouses. It functioned as the southern-most Pacific beacon of light in the U.S. from 1855 to 1891. The lighthouse sits atop Point Loma, 422 feet above sea level, overlooking the Pacific Ocean to the west and the entrance to San Diego Bay to the east.

About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
