The Back Story:
Orient Point
This caisson tower lighthouse was completed in 1899 and exhibited a red light from a fifth-order lens for the first time on November 10th of that year. Almost 60 years later, in April of 1958, the tower was automated and remains a current aid to navigation. The Orient Point Lighthouse cannot be reached by land and is not open to the public, although it can be viewed from near-by Orient Point.
About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
