The Back Story:
Hi Spirited Hijinks
Just about everybody’s favorite place at the zoo is where the monkeys hang out. Entertaining to watch and amazing in their ability to swing nimbly from branch to branch, it’s easy to imagine the fun they must be having.
All monkeys can use their hands and feet to grip branches, but others, like these Spider Monkeys, also use their long, prehensile tail for grabbing and holding on as well. Spider Monkeys spend most of their time in the trees, where they find their food – nuts, leaves, fruits, and bird eggs. Monkeys are very social animals, and use facial expressions, barks and screeches to communicate with each other.
