Aerial Logistics Support
The C-40 Clipper, the military version of the Boeing 737 commercial passenger jet, is used by both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force for logistical support of naval fleet and air base operations around the world. Modifications for military use include a larger cargo door, and wings and landing gear capable of bearing heavier payloads. Depending on configuration, C-40s transport cargo, personnel or a combination of both.
These new generation aircraft are designed to be an “office in the sky” for military commanders, with technology that includes onboard Internet and secure voice, data and satellite-based communications. Flight deck management systems include integrated GPS, predictive wind shear systems and enhanced air traffic alert and collision avoidance systems.
