STEAMBOAT: City of Cincinnati 1899 - 1918

The Back Story:

Steamboat: City of Cincinnati

A side-wheel paddler with wood hull (300 ft. x 38 ft. x 6 ft. draft), was built 1899. CITY OF CINCINNATI operated on the Ohio River opposite the City of Louisville. Every day at 5:30 PM, one boat would leave Louisville while the other departed Cincinnati, and each would deliver its freight to the other city early the next morning. On weekends they ran popular “Meet the Boat” trips. Each boat left its respective city at 8:30 AM and when the boats met, they exchanged passengers for the return trip home.

CITY OF CINCINNATI was lost in ice in January, 1918 at Cincinnati, Ohio.
