Tundra Caribou

The Back Story:

Tundra Caribou

In the fall they gather together, the male caribou battling one another for the lead position in the herd. Constantly on the move, the herd will roam looking for new sources of moss and lichen as their dietary staple. Reaching sometimes over 3 feet across the antlers of the caribou can be an awesome spectacle. They use them like shovels to dig under the snow for food.

Caribou are most often found throughout the arctic tundra of Russia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland. Caribou, if domesticated are called Reindeer.
