Wading Egret
The Snowy Egret is the most commonly found egret; it can be lots of fun to observe, especially when it is feeding. It has this way of flushing out prey by shaking its feet in shallow water. It also dashes about with wings raised, hopping over the water, and chasing its prey. You’d think all of this rushing around would scare the fish away! However, it seems that the Snowy Egret’s antics force prey out into the open, and guess who is waiting to snap them up? Egrets seek out fish, crustaceans, insects and small reptiles for their food.
