The Back Story:

Boca Chita 

The Boca Chita lighthouse was built around 1937 by Mark C. Honeywell of the Honeywell Corporation. Mr. Honeywell built the lighthouse to give his boat captain a navigational landmark.  However, the U.S. Lighthouse Service deemed the lighthouse a hazard to navigation and it was extinguished literally within hours after being lit for the first time.  The lighthouse stands on Boca Chita island and is part of Biscayne National Park.

About the Artist:
Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (
