The Back Story:

Old Presque Isle

The Old Presque Isle Light was the first  lighthouse in the Presque Isle, Michigan area, built in 1840, supported physically by two-thirds stone and one-third brick. The tower stands 38-feet high. In 1867 the deterioration due to harsh weather forced congress to build a new tower, deactivating this one in 1871. It is currently a historical museum and landmark.

About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
