Peony
The Chinese peony represents love, (feminine) beauty, wealth, and good fortune. The Peony symbolizes one of the four seasons -- spring, together with Lotus, Chrysanthemum, and Plum, which represent summer, fall, and winter. Often called the “King of Flowers” (sometimes the “Queen of Flowers”), it enjoys a long history of prestige in Chinese culture, from the Tang Dynasty (7th century CE) and earlier. Since 1994, the tree peony is modern day China’s national flower.
